Visits & other activities at College of Agriculture, Nagpur

College of Agriculture, Nagpur was established in 1906. This college has 10 sections out of which 9 sections offer Post Graduate education. Presently 1011 students are enrolled, for graduate and post graduate education programmes. Following developmental activities were undertaken  during  the  year 2009-10.

 

1.    School of Agri. Business Management, started at College on non-grant basis. 16 students are admitted, in this post graduate course.

 

2.    Two, three day workshops were organized by AICRP on Agro. Forestry and Rapeseed Mustard during July 2009 and August 2009 respectively

3.      Visits of Dignitaries

v     Hon’ble Dr. Magar, Former Vice Chancellor, B.S.K.K.V., Dapoli and member of Executive Council of Dr. PDKV, Akola visited college on 27th November 2009 and addressed the staff and students of college.

 

v     Hon’ble Dr. C. D. Mayee, Chariman, A.S.R.B., New Delhi visited college on 4th December 2009 and addressed the staff and students of college.

 

v     The special N.S.S. camp of college students was organized at village Yerla from 5th to 11th December 2009. Many dignitaries including former Vice Chancelor, Dr. PDKV, Akola, Dr. S. A. Nimbalkar visited the camp and addressed the staff and students of college.

 

v     Hon’ble Shri. Yuvraj Salunkhe, Director of Agriculture and Water Conservation and Chairman of “Mahaorange” Shri. Shridhar Thakre visited the college on 8th December 2009 and addressed the staff and students of college.

 

v     Hon’ble Shri. Nanasaheb Patil, Chief Secretary Agriculture, Govt. of Maharashtra, visited the college on 16th December 2009 and delivered lecture on “Economy of Maharashtra and Agriculture Development”.

 

v     Hon’ble Shri. Gulabraoji Deokar, State Minister for Agriculture, Water Conservation and Tourism, Govt. of Maharashtra, visited the college on 23rd December 2009 and addressed the staff and students of college.

 

v      Dr. C. Deokumar, ADG (EDP) visited the college on 24th December 2009 and addressed the staff and students of College.

 

v     Chief secretary of Govt. of Maharashtra, Shri. J. P. Dange visited the college on 24th December 2009 and addressed the staff and students of college.

 

v     Hon’ble Adv. Shri. Vijayraoji Kolte, Vice Chairman, M.C.A.E.R., Pune inaugurated the Annual Social Gathering of College, “Vedh Bhavishyacha” on 9th January 2010.

 

v     Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. V. M. Mayande, presided over the function for acceptance of Dr. P. S. Khankhoje Gold Medal by the University on 22nd January 2010.

 

v     Dr. Arvind Kumar, DDG (Edu.) ICAR, New Delhi visited College on 24th January 2010 and inaugurated Experiential Learning Centres of Plant Pathology and Agril. Chemistry section.

 

4. Placement Cell

The College has placement cell for providing guidance to students to develop entrepreneurship and seeking jobs. Contacts have been established with 1000 private companies.

 

5. Guidance of experts from Govt. and non-Govt. agencies has been provided to     the students for preparation of Competitive examinations.

6. Last year, 29 students of the College achieved success in ICAR, entrance, JRF,     MBA and ARS examinations.

 

7. 17 students participated in Inter University “Ashwamedh” sports and      “Indradhanush” cultural event.

 

8. Research recommendations on control of Linseed of Gall fly have been      approved at State level.

 

9. Extension education section organized 30 result demonstrations on farmers     fields.

 

10. 350 students at present are enrolled in Y.C.M.O.U. University Study Centre       run by the College.
