All India Co-ordinated Research Project on Agro-Forestry : 

 

 

Agro-Forestry:

 

The project has developed many technology and following recommendation are given

·         To get higher number of harvestable bamboo it is  recommended to apply 50 Kilogram Nitrogen per hactare at the start of monsoon every year to bamboo plantation in central Vidarbh Zone.

·         Udid can be taken as intercrop in teak planted at 8 X 2 meter distance in central Vidarbha Zone.

·         For harvesting large size poles of eucalyptus, the planting distance of 2 X 1 meter is recommended for central Vidarbha Zone.

·         The teak clone PDKV/AF/1 is recommended for cultivation in Vidarbha.

·         For establishment of silvipasture system , Acacia nilotica  + Cenchrus ciliaris + stylo hamata for light soils and Annona quamosa + Cenchrus  ciliaris + stylo hamata for medium soil in rainfed area is recommended .

·         Construction of Gabion check dam with clay blanketing for storage of runoff and control of gully erosion is recommended.

·         For maximum timber production on ill drain soils, planting of sissoo is recommended at 40-60 cm isobath.
