1. About the Section

            An independent section of Agricultural Extension Education was started in 1958. The section of Extension Education had inherited the scholarship in teaching and research from people like Dr. Sinha, Dr.M.R.Chaudhari, Dr.M.M. Borkar, Dr. Suresh R. Khonde, Dr. L.B. Kalantri, Dr. M. M. Lanjewar, Dr. Rajput, Dr. G. R. Tidke, and now Dr. V. S. Tekale. This section is imparting education at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels.

          The march of teaching and achievements can be judged from the number of alumini it has produced successfully outside the gate of the college. Apart from regular teaching the section also conducts extension programme. The department organises Online Help to farmers. Many recommendations on extension education at University level have come out for the benefit of Scientific society and farmers.

          With the advance of time new horizons in the Extension Education section will be visible and research and teaching will be proceeding towards progress and will add new chapter in the volume of learning.

Almost all the teachers of the extension education department are actively participating in the Training, Annual Krishi Melawa, Krishi Charcha Satra, Krishak Vigyan Manch, Kisan Helpline, Krishi Din, Shivar Pheri and Agril. Exhibition organized by the college. The teachers were actively involved in the extension activities by visiting the farmers field. In addition to their own duties, the teachers have given radio talks, TV programme and published popular articles for the benefit of the farming community.

 

2. Academic Programme:-

 

          The section is offering courses on Extension Education to both undergraduate and Post graduate. There are specialized fields under which different courses and projects are conducted in partial fulfillment for award of BSc.(Agri.) and  MSc. (Agri.).

 

The college has extension education block to carry out crop demonstration on newly released varieties.

 

3. Infrastructure:-

 

          The section has well furnished staff rooms, well equipped classroom, with computer facility (internet), DLP, OHP, Digital cameras etc., which are frequently used by the faculties and students.       The section has forum for interaction for teaching purpose. The different laboratory equipments available with the section.

 

4. Mandate:-

Highly qualified and Experienced teaching staff of the section are doing the work of teaching, research and extension.

 

7. Students

           

The undergraduate and post graduate education is offered at the college. Extension Education is among the top choice of agricultural graduates of SAUs to Pursue PG studies. The postgraduate education leading to M.Sc.(Ag.) is offered at Section of Agril Extension Education. The total intake capacity for Post graduate students (MSc.) are as under

So far this section has produced more than 250 post graduates and are occupying responsible positions in different departments in India and abroad. They have brought laurels to the department by their outstanding work and achievement. The section is proud of them.

 

 

8. Co-curricular activities

The  faculty of the section associates with various co-curricular activities pertaining to admissions examination, university sports, social gathering, student’s educational tours etc.,

 

9. Research activities and achievements

 

          Research activities of this section is to invent the new technologies for extension purpose. 

 

10. Extension activities and achievements

Besides the main function of undergraduate and  postgraduate teaching, the staff members are actively involved in extension activities like Krishi Melavas, exhibitions, shivar pheri, field days etc.

 

11. Research recommendations (approved in Agresco)

     Research work is primarily based on various problems received as feedbacks from time to time and finalized in the project level meeting of Agri. Extension Education discipline. Research outcome is discussed in the annual RRC and RFRC meetings and then research recommendations are released after approval in Joint AGRESCO. Agril.Extension Education has contributed significantly in developing improved varieties and technologies. The most important achievements are briefly summarized below
